Laing+Simmons are one of our favourite clients, and their Annual Awards is the event we look forward to every year.

Which is exactly why the pressure is on to make it better each time.

This was our third year delivering their event at W Sydney, and while the brief leaned into Las Vegas, the real challenge was making sure it felt completely different from the year before. Same venue, same client, but a brand new experience.

So we pushed it.

We covered every inch of the foyer in gold sequined drapery, completely transforming the space and creating that immersive, high-shine moment, like stepping inside a dollar coin. Giant custom playing cards suspended from the ceiling, instantly shifting the scale and drawing the eye upward. Oversized diced, feather and sequin table centrepieces, glitz and glam. It was bold, high impact, and unmistakably Vegas.

But the real magic came in how the space came to life.

Guests were welcomed by Elvis and his showgirls, setting the tone from the moment they arrived. Roving casino tables moved through the crowd, with roulette and blackjack in full swing, while a cash booth added that playful, high-stakes energy. An 8-piece band kept the dance floor alive, carrying the momentum right through the night. Not to mention, not only did our MC co-host the show, he backflipped off the stage to start the after party!

Of course, something like this doesn’t just come together on the day.

It’s months of planning, refining, and problem solving, working through venue constraints, bump-in windows, and the logistics of bringing many suppliers and a big concept to life inside a live space. It’s about adapting quickly, making decisions on the ground, and making sure the end result still delivers exactly what it should.
